The Meeting

The smell of freshly cooked sausages wafted through the air. Fat spat on the fire, and sparks danced in the air. Tim had taken the role of Chief Cook for most of their holiday. His culinary skills did not stretch much further than sausages and burgers, but nobody minded. Sitting around an open fire as it crackled in front of them, conversation flowed as easily as the beer. Common sense prevailed, and Damien still kept to the soft drinks. They were happy chatting about anything and everything.

“You’re quieter than normal,” whispered Damien to Angel.

“Edward wants to meet me,” she whispered back. They all stopped in mid-conversation and stared at her in silence for a few seconds, digesting what she had just said.

“How do you know?” asked Laurel.

She sheepishly passed him the hand-written note written on standard lined notepaper:
